What makes an American Home Protect warranty better than other warranty companies?
At American Home Protect, we strive to stand out from the crowd by providing our customers with the best service possible. To that end, we offer a three-year warranty rather than the typical one-year term, which reduces the likelihood of a policy lapse. Additionally, we enable you to choose your own technician when you need a repair! But the real standout feature of our home warranty is our handyman service. With this service, you can hire handymen for a low cost to come and perform simple home repairs and maintenance tasks that you may not be equipped to handle on your own.

Will I have any out-of-pocket expenses?

Aside from your policy premiums, the most you will pay on any covered repair or replacement is your $65 service fee. In the event that your repair or replacement exceeds the limits of liability outlined in your contract, you may be responsible for the amount beyond your coverage limits.

Can I choose my own contractor?

If there's a contractor who you've had positive experiences with in the past, you can choose them to perform repairs and replacements in your home after you've filed a claim.

Do I get a discount for covering more than one home?

At American Home Protect, we offer flexible payment arrangements for customers with multiple homes. Contact us for more details on the flexible benefits that you can take advantage of for your situation.

How long does my contract last?
A contract with American Home Protect lasts for three years (36 months). This longer policy period, compared to most home warranties, reduces the chance of an unexpected policy lapse and allows us to ensure the best price possible for you.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes, your home warranty can be cancelled at any time. Should you need to cancel your coverage, give us a call at (877) 407-3820 and we'll help you sort out any necessary details.

How do I renew my home warranty?

We'll help you get your coverage set for the next three years. Call our enrollments department for more details at (877) 407-3820.

Can I view a sample contract?

Can American Home Protect warranty drop me?

While rare, you can be dropped from your home warranty coverage by American Home Protect for non-payment, misrepresentation or fraud.

Does American Home Protect have a waiting period?

There is a brief waiting period of 30 days after signing up for a home warranty plan before you can file a claim. Once 30 days have passed and you have paid your first monthly payment, you are eligible to file claims.

Why did I receive a Lapse of Home Warranty Coverage Letters from American Home Protect?

If you received a notice of home warranty coverage lapse from American Home Protect, your home is likely not under a warranty or your policy is about to expire. Call our enrollments department at (877)-407-3820 to make sure that your home systems and appliances remain under the protection of a home warranty.

Home Warranty Services Questions

How much do I pay when I request a warranty service?

After filing a claim on a covered service, replacement or repair, you will pay your deductible. Based on your coverage level, this will either be $35 or $65.

Are the service technicians licensed?

A vast majority of the service technicians that work with American Home Protect are licensed.

How do I request service?

To request service on a covered home system or appliance, call our claims department at (877) 970-0087.

Is there a limit to the number of repairs during my contract term?

The total payout maximum for our policy is $10,000 in covered repairs and replacements across your three years of coverage. Please note that there are individual limits for certain appliances and home systems.

How does American Home Protect determine if my claim is approved or not?

American Home Protect determines whether or not your claim is approved based on the details of the contract. A general rule of thumb is that claims are typically approved for well-maintained equipment that has suffered a breakdown through general use.

How long does the home warranty have to fix the requested service?

For covered services, we often initiate the service within 48 hours. Once initiated, repair or replacement times may vary based on the severity of the issue, supply chain concerns and other factors.

The service issue was not fixed. Can the contractor come back?

If your service issue is not fixed after the initial service visit, our claims department will work with any technician that we have ordered to honor repair work.

What is not covered in the home warranty?

Non-covered items typically include things that are already covered by homeowner's insurance and general maintenance. Systems and appliances that were damaged on purpose, inadequately maintained or have non-mechanical physical damage are also not covered under our home warranty plans.

How can I find out the status of my service request?

To view the status of an existing claim, call our claims department at (877)-970-0087.

What if my appliances and systems are old?

If you have older appliances and home systems, that's all the more reason to have them covered with AHP. We will fix or replace the model within the limits of liability. In the event that your old appliance stops working due to natural wear and tear, we will replace it with a model that meets all federally mandated manufacturer’s standards and is comparable in function to the replaced unit.

What happens if my appliance or system cannot be repaired?

We offer covered replacements as well as repairs. If your appliance or system cannot be repaired, we will replace the covered item up to the limit of liability defined in your contract.

What is the difference between a manufacturer’s warranty and a home warranty?

Manufacturer's coverage generally only covers parts. A warranty from AHP will cover parts, labor, diagnostics and even the disposal of your old equipment should it need to be replaced.
