Optional Add-Ons for Your Home Warranty Plan

No two homes are exactly alike, so having access to optional add-on coverage gives you flexibility when purchasing a home warranty. In many cases, choosing to add optional coverage allows you to save money on expensive repairs to additional items in your home. Making this add-on coverage optional means you only pay the premium needed to cover items that you actually own, rather than paying more for blanket coverage of things you'll never need.

Adding optional coverage to your home is a great way to protect your biggest investment and keep your budget from being impacted by an unexpected breakdown in a home system or appliance. And just because add-on coverage is optional doesn't mean it's not as valuable. If you have any of the items included in our add-on coverage, such as a pool, spa, freestanding freezer or a garage door, then this coverage can help you protect those items for an affordable cost.

Save on Expensive Home Repair Bills

When shopping for home warranty coverage, you should always be asking yourself why you would want to cover a particular appliance or home system. When it comes to add-on coverage, it's even more important to ask that question. Here's why you might want to add on the following optional coverage items to your home warranty plan:

  • Freestanding Freezer: A freestanding freezer in your basement or garage can be an excellent investment for storing any number of food items. But repairing it can be expensive. By adding your freestanding freezer to your home warranty, you don't have to worry about a costly breakdown or an ill-advised home repair.

  • Freestanding Ice Maker: Freestanding ice makers are the perfect addition to a home bar or outdoor grilling space. Adding your freestanding ice maker to your home coverage can save you money on costly repairs and provide you with greater peace of mind.

  • Spa Equipment: Adding a spa to your home can be exciting, but it's not so exciting when problems arise. Don't leave yourself on the hook for expensive mechanical repairs to your spa system. Add spa equipment to your home coverage to protect all the mechanical elements of your spa.

  • Swimming Pool: Pools are more complex systems than they might initially appear. Leave these repairs to the professionals. When your pool has a problem, you'll enjoy robust coverage with your optional AHP home warranty. Many parts and components of these systems are covered. Pool coverage can be added to any AHP home warranty plan for an additional fee

  • Plumbing: Just about every homeowner has their own plumbing nightmare story. What seems like a harmless faucet leak can be a sign of something much more serious. By adding plumbing to your optional home warranty coverage, you can rest assured that a qualified plumber is taking a look at any issue and is ready to tackle problems large or small.

  • Central Vacuum System: If you have a central vacuum system in your home, that's a big investment that you'll want to protect. Don't get sucked into costly repairs. Add your central vacuum system to your home warranty to save money on repairs when they pop up.

  • Garage Door Operation: Having an automatic garage door is great for getting your cars in and out of your garage conveniently, but a breakdown can be a hassle, and an expensive one at that. Adding your automatic garage door to your home warranty coverage plan can help you get your garage door operation fixed faster and for less money.

Add-On Home Warranty FAQ

  • Do you cover pre-existing equipment and appliance conditions?
The appliances and home systems covered by our home warranty include only items that were in good working condition prior to the activation of your home warranty. The covered item must be in proper working condition at the time of inspection, which takes place prior to the activation of your home warranty.

  • Can my home warranty be transferred if I sell my home?
Yes! You can transfer your home warranty when you sell your home. In fact, a home warranty that can be transferred to the future owner of the home could help you raise the sale price of your home. An in-force home warranty may make your home a more appealing purchase to potential buyers.

  • Does the optional add-on home warranty automatically renew?
In some states, our policy can be set to auto-renew in order to help you avoid a lapse in coverage. In states where our policies do not automatically renew, it is easy to renew them yourself. At any point at least 30 days before the date of expiration, you can reach out to renew your coverage. As a courtesy, we will also reach out to remind you that your home warranty coverage is coming to an end.

  • Can I cancel the optional add-on home warranty?
Yes, you can cancel your add-on coverage, as well as any other coverage, whenever you like. If you cancel your coverage within the first 30 days of the policy, you receive a full refund, and if you cancel at any point afterward, you will receive a pro rata refund of the unexpired coverage term minus a small cancellation fee of $50.
